I'm finding out that if you say "Hi" to a cop on duty, he'll most likely stare you up and down without saying a word back. So don't do it. Apparently it makes you look suspicious when you're just being nice and showing some respect. Only say "Hi" when they're at some fundraising event 'cause then that's when they'll most likely be nice back.

Peppermill Profiles People

I love Peppermill. Love to eat there, love to hang out with friends there, and love relaxing in their Fireside Lounge. My family often stays there. They even get special room and dinner rates for coming as often as they do. Heck, one of the owners was a good friend of my late aunt who knew them from the Bay Area almost 3-decades ago. But was I in for a shock when my wife and I planned to stay the night in the middle of last week, and we were told "We're sold out." I asked, "Both towers?" And the lady said, "Yeah." I shook my head in disbelief as we walked away. I told my wife, "No way." I got on my cell and called them up. They had a room! When I asked if they had anything cheaper, "Yeah, no problem." They had another room! To say the least, we were sorely disappointed in the Peppermill, and I guess we'll be looking for a new hangout spot. That night we stayed at Ascuaga's Nugget. Good rates, nice clean room, and no profiling.

This black Lexus RX500 almost caused three different accidents heading down I-80 and 395. Never used turning signals when changing lanes in busy morning traffic. Not even once. One of these days you're gonna kill someone, and you probably won't even know it as you travel on down the road. Grrr.

What's up with you people who don't clean up after your pets. You let your dog off the leash and he poops so far away, you don't go bag it. Or you only bag it once but aren't prepared for everywhere else your pet has pooped. Or you flat out don't care at all. Someday I hope it's your kid who goes sliding head first into a pile of poop when chasing their soccer ball in the park. Then maybe just maybe you'd have some appreciation for those who do clean up after their pets.

Sheesh, the lady handing out numbers at the DMV acted like she has the worst job in the world. And it wasn't just me... she was scowling, frowning, and talking down to everyone. You got a state job -- you the last one who should be frowning these days. What? They just tell you your job's gonna be cut or somethin'? Everyone else though was real nice. Everything went smoothly and we got out without a hitch, thank ya kindly. But damn, lady, cheer up!

This black Jeep Cherokee comes up behind me when I wave a pedrestrian across a crosswalk in the rain. Within inches of my rear bumper, this guy is clearly upset that I decided to stop. After the lady crosses in front of me, the Jeep immediately pulls around me speeding down the street. Stopping for pedestrians is not only the law, but it's the right thing to do. Quit being a jerk.

This gold Saturn pulls out right in front of 45mph traffic causing everyone to slam on their brakes. Then they continue to weave in and out of traffic, cutting in front of other people wherever there is a bit of space. But you don't like it when they do it to you, do you?

Last Sunday morning this Black Commander came speeding up behind me crossing both lanes. I got off to the left lane letting him pass me by and even then I had to swerve further to the left to keep him from hitting me as he drove by on the right. He tried to stay in the right lane but kept crossing into the left lane as he drove toward Glendale. The guy was either drunk, drugged, plain crazy, or all three.

So what's up with this stop and go thing that you all do when you come to a 4-way stop? If you ain't come to a complete stop yet, it ain't your turn to go. And for the rest of you, quit stopping 10-feet behind the line just so it makes it your turn next. Nah. You best step up to the line first before you even think it's your chance to go. And if you can't see who stopped when, don't just assume you're the entitled one. More later.

Wash Your Hands

Okay, I got another fast food joint story. This time we're at a local sandwich shop eating our sub at a table next to the restrooms. This is one of those bathrooms where there's only room for one person so you know exactly what that one person is doing in there by the sound of the toilet, paper towel dispenser, sink, etc. So this girl goes in there. She works here. Flushes the toilet and immediately walks back out. I mean, Come On!! Fixing people's sandwiches and you don't even wash your hands! I don't care if you put on gloves cause it's those same dirty hands that are putting on those gloves. No wonder people are always getting sick! I saw this happen at the DQ in Sparks one time. I was even in the bathroom with this guy. He's taking a dump, comes out of the stall, and goes right to the kitchen. That was the last time I went there and that was years ago. Sheesh. They tell me if I really knew what goes on at public food joints that I'd never eat out again. Oh yeah... back to the sandwich shop... so we're sitting there next to the restrooms and another three people used the toilet while we're there. Not one of 'em washed their hands!! And then they go back to handle their sandwiches. Bite in. Yum. People!!!

Or someone else pays the price. Okay, I'm at this fast food joint today, sitting there with my girl and munching on my meal. Some guy dumps his entire soda on the floor. Right there, in the middle of everything. He don't say a word... just goes over and refills his cup, then finds a place to sit. Another guy walks over this slippery sticky mess with ice cubes all about... almost falls down! And who does he look at to blame? Me! My girl says, "He thinks you did it." I say, "Whatever." So we gets up to leave, and on my way out I slide a chair directly over the spill to keep someone else from falling. What's up, ppl??

Stop and Go

Never quite seen a city like Reno where almost every light makes you stop first before it let's you go through an intersection. Other cities allow their traffic to flow, but not so in Reno. The lights here keep the traffic bunched up, making it almost impossible to make a lane change, even miles in advance. Get in the middle of a group of cars and you're gonna get stopped almost every time. It's only when you break free from the pack that you might have a chance. What's up, Reno? I guess we figure a D is a good enough grade, eh? Hopefully next year we'll get an F; then just maybe something will be done about our traffic lights. Until then... no complaining about our air pollution!! Let the traffic flow.

This silver Toyota Camry pulls out right in front of me from a neighborhood intersection. No stopping or slowing down at all. I follow her to the next intersection. Barely slows down a bit and continues straight through it, making a right turn without signaling. I follow it to the next intersection. She almost goes forward in front of a truck, but stops in time. No right rear brake light. Lady driver has brown hair. Her final destination? The library. I woulda thought hospital. Bumper sticker: Obama. Brilliant.

Little gray car with NV plate ABSLTLY loves to weave in and out of traffic, quickly and carelessly. License plate frame says "You just got passed by a girl!" Obviously she gets a kick out of it. Look out.
